In what can only be described as a very difficult week for Adrigole GAA and the whole community, we at Cumann Luthchleas Gael Eadargóil are heartbroken with the loss of our Vice President Mary Ellen (O’Sullivan). We offer our deepest sympathy to her husband Florence, daughter Susan, sons Pat & Jamie, daughter in Law Teresa & Aisling, grandchildren Megan & Paddy, brothers John & Murty, sister Imelda, brother in law Patrick and wider family and friends.

Mary Ellen has been a stalwart member of the club who always wore her heart on her sleeve, any task was never a chore where Adrigole GAA was involved.
Her dedication and loyalty to the club was immense and while best known for her catering at GAA events, it would be remiss to not acknowledge her absolute commitment to all areas of the club both on and off the field, while always preferring to be away from the spotlight so much so that many would not be aware of the hours of volunteerism she has put in.

Mary Ellen’s positivity and humour at our meetings will be sorely missed as well as her straight talking style and her hands on approach to getting the job done.

In her many years involved in the GAA, she has served as Underage secretary, delegate to the Beara Board and her election to Vice President was in acknowledgement of her enormous contribution as an officer, delegate and committee member more recently in organising and running our August weekend.

Her loss to the wider community is also huge but she has instilled her values in the future generations. While their house has always been an open door for all aspects of the GAA, the entire family’s loyalty, time and commitment to the club is something that Adrigole GAA is truly grateful for.

Words could never express our gratitude to Mary Ellen for all her time and dedication to the club but it is safe to say her ideals and memory will never fade.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
