The August weekend saw Adrigole GAA host a very successful festival over the weekend. Thursday evening saw the annual underage blitz take place with over 100 children taking part. This was followed by a Junior B game between Adrigole and Bantry. Friday saw the 2nd annual Aidan Cremin memorial 7 a side competition taking place. Despite the inclement weather a very enjoyable was had. Beaufort defeated Adrigole in the final in what was a repeat of last years final. On the Saturday the annual Tag Rugby tournament took place with winning team being Crowley Fire & Safety. Folling the Tag Rugby , the 5 mile road race took place. Seamus McSweeney was first home in a time of 29.52 while Deirdre O’Sullivan was the first female home in a time of 36.54. Sunday saw the annual family fun day take place. Heats of the duck race took place throughout the weekend, with the final taking place Sunday evening. 1st prize went to Peg O’ Sullivan, Trafrask, 2nd place went to Mary Coates England and 3rd place was James O’ Grady Adrigole. The winners of the long puck was Kevin Jer O’ Sullivan (jnr), the winner of the under 16 section was Eamon Jer O’Sullivan and the under 12 section was won by Ted O’ Sullivan. The winner of the egg cracking competition was Denis Sullivan from Dublin. A very successful kiddies Olympics was held and the sheep racing again proved to be very popular. Weekends like this cannot happen with the effort of a huge numbers of volunteers in the lead up to and during the festival weekend, and Adrigole GAA club would like to acknowledge all the great volunteers who helped out in anyway. Adrigole GAA would also like to thank the many sponsors who supported the weekend and anyone who supported the weekend in anyway.
